Carteret County Schools to Operate on a 2-hour Delay
Carteret County Public Schools issued the following statement late Monday afternoon:
The Carteret County Public School System will have a two-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, August 29, 2017. This two-hour delay could be changed if storm conditions worsen and that announcement would be made by 5 a.m. This announcement is being made now so parents can make child care arrangements for a two-hour delay or, if needed, a cancellation of school.
This two-hour delay is based on current information NOAA has provided school officials in regard to the large amount of rain expected tonight which will cause some low laying roads to be covered with water. High tide will also be a factor in tomorrow’s early morning hours. This two-hour delay will allow there to be daylight when school buses and student drivers are traveling so they can see pooling of water and make safe decisions. Thank you and please stay safe.
