WEEDS AND NOXIOUS GROWTH
Now that summer is about here, the Planning and Inspections Department wanted to remind everyone of the "Weeds and Noxious Growth" Ordinance set by the Town. The ordinance states "It shall be unlawful for any owner, lessee or occupant, or any agent, servant, representative or employee of any such owner, lessee or occupant having control of any lot or land or any part thereof in the town to permit or maintain on any such lot or land any growth of weeds, grass, or other vegetation to a height greater than six inches (6") on average, or any accumulation of dead weeds, grass, or brush."

In their April meeting, the Board of Commissioners issued a "Resolution Supporting A Moratorium on Charging Impact Fees For the Remainder of the 2011 Calendar Year." Details of the moratoruim are:
Eastman Creek is not a part of the moratorium as it is not in the Town or ETJ limits. The moratorium applies to any new construction whether it be an addition, renovation, or brand new residential construction. Please contact our office if you have questions or concerns. The Planning and Inspections Department reviews and monitors all development that occurs within the town limits as well as the Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). The department is responsible for the execution of zoning, subdivision, and enforcement issues; flood plain management which effects flood insurance ratings for individual insurance policies; processes building and zoning applications; and inspects construction for compliance with the North Carolina State Building Codes. We are also responsible for monitoring changes to the exteriors of structures located within the Town's Historic District. Our staff provides support to the Board of Commissioners (BOC), Planning Board, the Board of Adjustment (BOA), and the Historic Preservation Commission (BHPC).

INSPECTION, PLEASE!
If you need an inspection on your job site, we generally require a one day notice prior to the requested inspection. This is in order to make a schedule for the inspector so he can spend quality time with customers in the field. However we do same day inspections if time allows.
