Traffic Advisory: Work to begin June 24 with nighttime lane closures planned for July

BEAUFORT-The Town of Beaufort is relocating the waterline along NC Highway 101 in the vicinity of the intersection of NC Highway 101 with West Beaufort Road in preparation for a culvert replacement for the creek crossing NC 101. The culvert replacement will be performed later.

Work on this project is anticipated to begin on Monday, June 24, 2019. There should be equipment operating along the edges of NC Highway 101 in proximity to its intersections with Live Oak Street and West Beaufort Road beginning Monday, June 24.

Please be aware of upcoming lane closures on NC Highway 101. They are planned for July 9, 2019 and July 15 or 16, 2019 between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. 

Tie-ins to the existing water line will occur on July 9, 2019 and insertion of a new valve on W. Beaufort Road will occur on July 15, 2019.

Work includes horizontal directional drilling under the creek and West Beaufort Road, tying in the replacement waterline into the existing waterline, installation of a fire hydrant, reconnection of services from the old waterline to the new waterline, disinfection of the new waterline, and abandonment of the old waterline. Completion of the construction is planned for July 19, 2019.
