Parker Auto Group Recognizes First Responders through Hometown Heroes Program

MOREHEAD CITY, NC – The Parker Auto Group has partnered with the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association (NCADA) to recognize first responders from the Morehead City Police Department and the Beaufort Fire Department.

The Hometown Heroes Program is organized by the NCADA Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. The purpose of the program is to recognize first responders in NC for outstanding service to their communities.

“The Parker Auto Group is so honored to nominate these individuals,” explains Lindsay Parker, Marketing Director for the Parker Auto Group.

“These first responders work tirelessly to make our communities a safer place. We are thrilled to be able to recognize them in this small way for their dedication.”

From the Morehead City Police Department, the Parker Auto Group nominated Master Police Officer Danielle Lawrence.

Officer Lawrence was a sworn law enforcement officer for the City of Newport News and Town of Smithfield, Virginia, where she began her law enforcement career in 2007 and currently serves as a school resource officer at Morehead Primary School, acting as role model, mentor, and ambassador for the department to area youth.

She has served with the Morehead City Police Department since 2015 in a number of roles and currently serves as one of the department's School Resource Officers with her focus on outreach to the community. Officer Lawrence heads up the department's Special Olympics support program, responsible for the torch run and fundraising efforts in her community. Due to her efforts, the department has been able to contribute substantially to Special Olympics of NC and as such she has represented the department at the final leg of the torch run in Raleigh, NC.

From the Beaufort Fire Department, the Parker Auto Group nominated Captain Brian Beck.

Capt. Beck joined the Beaufort Fire Department in 2004 when he turned 18 but his ‘career’ with the department began in 1998 at the age of 12 when he signed on as a junior fire fighter. He is a second-generation fire fighter, with his father having served the Beaufort Department since 1974.

Captain Beck has a deep appreciation and understanding of his community needs, with family ties dating back generations. He has had a large impact on youth outreach in his community, volunteer coaching and officiating many sports for local teams.

Recipients are invited to attend a ceremony in Raleigh where they will be recognized by Governor Roy Cooper along with the NCADA and presented with awards for their service.

The Parker Auto Group is made up of Parker Honda and Parker Buick GMC, both of Morehead City and looks forward to celebrating 75 years of serving Carteret County and surrounding areas since 1947.
