Town of Beaufort Golf Cart Regulations

• All golf carts must first pass a safety inspection and be registered with the Town of Beaufort in order to be lawfully operated within the city limits.
• Safety inspections and registration are both required annually and are only valid per the calendar year in which they are registered (Jan. 1st- Dec. 31st).
• Golf cart owners will be charged a $75 registration fee at time of registration or the renewal of a registration.
• Golf cart owners must provide proof of insurance at time of registration and a valid identification.
• The golf cart safety inspection and registration are to be completed at the Beaufort Town Hall located at 701 Front Street.
• Golf Cart Registration and Permit Requirements can be found in Sec. 73.04 of the Town of Beaufort Code of Ordinance.
• All golf cart operators must be at least 16 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Golf cart operators are required to follow the standards of operations outlined in Sec. 73.05 of the Town of Beaufort Code of Ordinance.
