One major way residents can have a positive impact on the future of the Town of Beaufort is volunteering to serve on the Town's various advisory boards and commissions. Residents who volunteer for these positions are an important link that connects the public to its governing body and are the advisers who make recommendations that ultimately shape the future of our Town. Members of these boards and commissions are appointed by the Town Board of Commissioners to serve terms ranging from one year to three years. In order to be considered for appointment, you must be a resident within the corporate limits of the Town of Beaufort or live within the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) for Beaufort, unless otherwise noted.
If you live in the ETJ and are interested in serving on the Planning Board or the Board of Adjustment, please apply through Carteret County: https://www.carteretcountync.gov/461/Boards-Committees
Currently, the Town of Beaufort is not accepting applications for volunteer boards/committees.
