Join us this Juneteenth as we honor freedom, celebrate heritage, and strengthen our community through reflection, unity, and empowerment. We would like to highlight TWO events happening in our community this Juneteenth – each open to the public to join! At the Olde Beaufort Farmers' Market, the 6th Annual Juneteenth Market will take place to help promote black owned & supported small businesses! This gives an opportunity to have local minority business owners showcase their product and connect with community members. This is set to take place on June 20, 2026 from 7am-1pm. Please contact Tyisha Teel if you are interested in joining as spots are still available! Hosted by The Black History Committee and Culinary Arts program of Carteret Community College, the annual 'Taste of the South' event will take place on June 19, 2026 from 6pm-9pm. This event showcases local culinary students and graduates who have excelled in their craft – boasting regional and national recognition. By participating in this event, you are able to contribute to scholarships that directly benefit local students as 40% of all proceeds go directly to the Gwen Fisher Memorial Scholarship. Be sure to join us in attending each of these events this Juneteenth – we look forward to seeing you there! Interested in learning more?
