Employee Spotlight: David Littleton

A typical day for David as the Instrumentation Control Specialist for the Town of Beaufort Public Utilities Department involves monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the control systems that keep the Town’s water and wastewater operations functioning efficiently. His responsibilities include inspecting instrumentation equipment, programming and maintaining automated controls, diagnosing electrical and communication issues, and ensuring pumps, lift stations, and treatment systems operate properly. David works closely with other Public Utilities staff to quickly identify and resolve control issues that could impact operations or service delivery.

David enjoys the teamwork aspect of his position, especially collaborating with coworkers to troubleshoot and solve complex control and automation problems. His work directly serves the community by helping ensure the Town maintains a high quality of life through reliable water and sewer services. 

One of David’s biggest accomplishment has been assisting with the automation upgrades at the wastewater treatment plant, helping improve operational efficiency and system reliability.

What David enjoys most about Beaufort is being on the water and the Town’s relaxed, low-key lifestyle, which makes it a great place to live and work.
