HIRING SALARY: $44,676 - $54,250 – DOQ
SUMMARY:
The Town of Beaufort is currently accepting applications for the position of full time Police Officer. The Police Department embraces the concept of community policing while providing police services to include traffic and criminal law enforcement, emergency response, investigations, and special events. The Department serves a public of approximately 4,300 permanent residents and a summer population that swells to over 10,000 residents, visitors and summer guests. REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must complete an extensive 2-4 week pre-hire process that will include a comprehensive background investigation, medical examination, polygraph examination, psychological examination, emotional intelligence testing, and the successful completion of North Carolina’s police officers physical abilities test (POPAT). The selected candidates will also have to complete the Department’s orientation and field training program prior to permanent assignment.
All applicants must be eligible for immediate certification with N.C. Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission or eligible for lateral transfer if applying from another agency in North Carolina or out of state transfer. All applicants must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license at the time of appointment. Applicants with previous law enforcement experience, advanced education or advanced training in criminal justice or related field are preferred.
