A Message from Duke Energy

As a powerful storm system moves into our state this morning, Duke Energy is preparing for anticipated power outages across the Carolinas.

Widespread heavy rainfall and very powerful wind gusts are predicted. If outages occur, our crews will work as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to those impacted by the storm.

For our linemen, we monitor their work conditions – particularly wind speed. We don’t want them up in a bucket truck when the winds are over 30 mph. We also stop traveling in all vehicles when winds reach 39 miles per hour.

Power Restoration

Duke Energy focuses on restoring power in a sequence that enables power restoration to public health and safety facilities and to the greatest number of customers as safely and quickly as possible.

It is important that all customers report outages in one of the following ways:

  • Using the Duke Energy mobile app
  • Visiting http://duke-energy.com
  • Texting OUT to 57801
  • Calling the automated outage-reporting system at 1-800-POWERON (1-800-769-3766)
