School Closings
All Carteret County Public Schools will be closed Sept. 4 through Sept. 6 (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) for students and staff.
In light of several mandatory evacuations in the county being issued today, including the Governor's mandatory evacuation of Bogue Banks, school officials have no choice but to close our schools. We understand that tomorrow's weather should be mild, that many parents will be required to work tomorrow and will have childcare issues, and that many families do not have the means to evacuate. We empathize with our families and the hardships endured due to the predicted inclement weather and subsequent school closures.
The make-up days will be October 7, 2019, and January 2 and January 3, 2020.
We wish every family the very best as they finalize their preparations for Hurricane Dorian and we urge everyone to make wise and safe choices.
