Planned Water Outage to Affect Customers along Cedar Street
BEAUFORT, NC- The Town of Beaufort will be conducting work that requires a water outage to
customers as follows:
• along Cedar Street between Moore and Craven Streets
• at the 300 blocks of Moore, Orange, and Turner Streets
• at the 400 block of Craven Street
The outage is related to ongoing work being conducted to address infrastructure issues in the area
of Cedar Street.
The Town’s contractor has been rehabilitating and replacing most of the Town’s buried water and
sewer infrastructure beneath Cedar Street, as well as, in the 300 blocks of Moore Street, and the
400 blocks of Orange and Queen Streets. This work is nearing completion and as such, crews will be
switching the water service lines to the houses, businesses, and County facilities along these
streets while also disconnecting old water mains. This work will require that water to the area be
cut off until it is finished.
The outage is expected to begin on or about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021, weather permitting.
The lengths of the outage are expected to differ according to location due to the varying
complexity of the work along Cedar Street. The estimated outage durations are as follows:
- 45 minutes (7:30-8:15 a.m.): Cedar Street between Craven and Turner Streets plus the 400 block of Queen Street
- 3 hours (7:30-10:30 a.m.): Cedar Street between Turner and Moore Streets plus, the 300 block of Moore Street and the 400 block of Orange Street.
- 2 hours (5-7 p.m.): 300 block of Turner Street
Those affected by the outage may experience small bursts of air being emitted from faucets when
first using them after water service is restored. No other impacts are expected.
We thank you for your patience as we work to complete this project.
