Planned Water Outage to Affect Customers along Cedar Street
BEAUFORT, NC- The Town of Beaufort will be conducting work beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 that requires water outages to customers located as follows:
- along Cedar Street between Marsh and Live Oak Streets
- along Broad Street between Queen and Marsh Streets
- along Ann Street between Pollock and Live Oak Streets
- at the 300 and 400 blocks of Queen Street
- at the 200 and 400 blocks of Pollock Street
- at the 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Marsh Street
The outage is necessary to complete the work being conducted to address infrastructure issues in the area of Cedar Street.
The Town’s contractor has been rehabilitating and replacing most of the Town’s buried water and sewer infrastructure beneath Cedar Street as well as, in the 300 blocks of Moore Street, and the 400 blocks of Orange and Queen Streets. This work is nearing completion and as such, crews will be switching the water service lines to the houses, businesses, and County facilities along these streets while also disconnecting old water mains. This work will require that water to the area be cut off until it is finished.
The outage is expected to begin on or about 8:00 a.m. Thursday, May 6, if weather conditions are acceptable and all preceding testing results are satisfactory.
The outages are to be on a “rolling” basis with no area expected to be without water service for more than 2 hours. The estimated outage times are given below; however, the actual times may vary especially if the work proceeds faster than expected.
8:00 am to 10:00 am - the 300 and 400 blocks of Queen Street
Broad Street between Queen and Pollock Streets
10:00 am to 12:00 noon - the 400 block of Pollock Street
12:00 noon to 2:00 pm - Cedar Street from Marsh Street to Live Oak Street
2:00 pm to 4:00 pm - the 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Marsh Street
the 200 block of Pollock Street
Broad Street between Pollock and Marsh Streets
Ann Street between Pollock and Live Oak Streets
Those affected by the outage may experience small bursts of air being emitted from faucets when first using them after water service is restored. No other impacts are expected.
We thank you for your patience as we work to complete this project.
