The Division of Water Infrastructure awarded Pre-Construction Planning Grant funding in the amount of $225,000 to the Town on August 31, 2022. This funding was awarded subsequent to the Town's application for funding of to be used for preliminary engineering of improvements to/replacements of sewer pump station numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Each of these pump stations was constructed around the late 1960's and are operating in excess of the life normally expected for the type station. In addition, the type station includes a "dry pit" that presents the potential for life and safety issues for maintenance personnel. The dry pit is a below ground metal vertical cylinder that houses both the electrical controls and pumps that serve the lift station.
